FAQ

Please, find the brief selection of frequently asked questions below. For the FAQ complete list or in case of need for more details about harmonised legislation for instance, we recommend to visit the Czech drone rules website.

HOW TO QUICKLY AND EASILY FIND OUT WHERE I CAN FLY?

In case of using any type of UAS, the DronView application is highly recommended for the pre-flight preparation. This app provides information on meteorological conditions or current airspace restrictions so that the user can avoid the infringement of reserved areas under dynamic activation, for example.

WHERE CAN I FIND RULES VALID FOR MY PLANNED FLIGHT?

According to new legislation varying rules may be applied to every single flight depending on the type of drone and on the flight parameters. Air Navigation Services CR in cooperation with Dronetag have launched Dronald application which makes the applicable legislation easily understood.

HOW DO I OBTAIN THE ANS CLEARANCE IF REQUIRED FOR MY PLANNED FLIGHT?

In case of controlled airspace under ANS CR responsibility, the applicant is obliged to send a request for permit of a Non-standard Flight (NSF) to the AMC CR office at least three working days before the intended flight. The AMC CR office assesses the intended area, operating conditions and the required height of the planned flight and issues the NSF flight permit eventually. Instructions for submitting the application are published in the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP), Part ENR 1.1, Chapter 1.1.11.1 Procedures for non-standard flight types (NSF) in controlled airspace. Requests are to be sent to amcpraha@ans.cz. Please note that the total size of attachments must not exceed 5 MB.

The confirmed permits are provided with a registration number, whereas that does not mean the automatic final approval. The approved permit may, if necessary, contain other requirements and conditions from the ANS CR, which must be complied with for the safe flight. These additional requirements may include, for example, the obligation of a telephone coordination with the ANS CR right before commencing the approved flight.

HOW TO PROCEED IF I AM OBLIGED TO PUBLISH A NAVIGATIONAL WARNING OR TO ESTABLISH A RESTRICTED AREA FOR MY OPERATION?

A navigational warning indicates an activity that is potentially dangerous to air traffic. It is being published only as a warning of estimated increased or specific traffic in a certain area. It conveys the information for aircraft pilots to be careful when passing through the area. However it does not restrict other users from entering such airspace. Navigational warnings are published as NOTAMs.

The restricted area temporarily reserves part of the airspace for a single user. Other users are prohibited from entering the area unless previously coordinated.

In case of need for navigational alert or restricted area publication the requests are to be sent to the International NOTAM Office (forming part of the Aeronautical Information Services), responsible for NOTAMs publication. The preferred submission procedure of NOTAM materials is based on using the AisView services system – aisview.ans.cz (subject to registration).
